James A. “Jim” Diehl, age 79, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on November 14, 2012. Born April 22, 1933 in Everett, PA, he was the son of the late William and Irene Diehl.
Jim attended Everett High School and went on to work at Letterkenny Army Depot, where he retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Walnut Bottom, PA and the Letterkenny Rod and Gun Club. Jim enjoyed watching NASCAR and cheering his favorite drivers, Bill Elliott and Kasey Kahne, but his greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially with his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife of 55 years, Wanda Howsare Diehl, whom he married on August 30, 1957; his daughters, Debbie Fisler (husband the late Jim Fisler) of Shippensburg, PA, Lisa Byers (husband Tim) of Chambersburg, PA, and Stacy Wildeson (husband Doug) of Chambersburg, PA; his grandchildren, Dustin and Hunter Fisler, Tim and Johnathan Byers, and Hayley and Tucker Wildeson; sisters, Betty March (husband, the late Sylvan) and Margie Lippy (husband Don) of York, PA and brothers, Donald Diehl (wife Shelda) of Dover, PA and Dale Diehl (companion Barb) of Wrightsville, PA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church, 118 West Main St., Walnut Bottom, PA, where Rev. Harold Bolyard will officiate. There will be no viewing, however the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 217 Walnut Bottom, PA 17266.
