James J. “Jim” Englehart, 90, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at UPMC Harrisburg. Born March 11, 1932 in Johnstown, PA, he was a son of the late Harry and Susan Bobak Englehart.
Jim was a 1950 graduate of Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, PA. A US Air Force veteran, he served honorably in the Korean War. He was employed at Mack Truck in Hagerstown as a machine operator and was the lead negotiator for the union. He was most recently employed as Director of Purchasing with the UAW in Detroit Michigan until his retirement. Jim was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg, and the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, reading and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife 68 years, Mary C. Majer Englehart, whom he married on January 9, 1954; six children, Jackie Mitchell (Dennis) of Chambersburg, James G. Englehart (Cecilia) of Chambersburg, Jeffrey Englehart (Tina) of Lugolf, SC, John Englehart (Robin) of Chambersburg, Jerry Englehart (Susan) of Greencastle, and Jay Englehart of Chambersburg; eleven grandchildren, Scott, Melisa, Jim, Matt, Christy, Joe, Michael, Jesse, Kim, Danielle, and Grant; six great grandchildren, Brandon, James, Dylan, Lily, McKenna, and Lavinia Paige; two great-great grandchildren, Rylie and AvaLynn Rayne; and one brother, Charles Englehart (Wanda) of Rockwood, PA. Aside from his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Joe Englehart in 2017; one grandson, Elijah “Eli” Englehart in 2020; and five siblings, Harry Englehart, Jr., Marian Sroka, Donald Englehart, Tom Englehart, and Carol Houghton.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2022 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Fr. Allan Wolfe will officiate. Interment will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Corpus Christi Catholic Church at the above address.
