James E. Forney, 69, of Chambersburg, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in the Chambersburg Hospital due to complications resulting from a vehicle-pedestrian accident on March 21, 2011. Born on January 15, 1942 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Leon and Mary Brechbiel Forney.
A lifelong painter by trade, Jim started out working for Garnet Sites, and he retired from E.E. Mills and Son on July 15, 2003. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he was a member of the Chambersburg First Church of God.
Jim is survived by his wife of over 49 years, Maxine Bishop Forney, whom he married on May 11, 1962; their son James “Jamie” Forney Jr., both of Chambersburg, and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Brenda Markley and her husband, Steven. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved beagle, “Corky.” Jim was the last member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by a brother, Frank, and two sisters, Margaret Cave and Katherine Robinson.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Friday, July 22, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Floyd Myers officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Thursday, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
