James Green

James E. “Jim” Green, age 76, of Mechanicsburg, PA; passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Holy Spirit Hospital. Born in Shippensburg, PA on July 14, 1934, he was the son of Sarah Mahon Green and the late Samuel Raymond Green, Sr.

Jim was a 1952 graduate of Shippensburg High School; where he later attended the former Shippensburg College for two years. A US Army veteran, Jim served honorably from 1955-1957. He went on to work in computers, where he retired as a computer analyst. Jim was a member of the Carlisle Church of Christ, the American Legion Post 26 in Dillsburg, the Model train club, and the Academy of model aeronautics. He enjoyed spending time with family, flying model airlplanes, working with his train garden and being active in his church when he was able.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by three children, Laura Frampton (husband Charles) of Carlisle, PA; Melanie Fogal (husband Barry) of New Boston, NH; and Edward Green (wife Mary) of New Oxford, PA, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Linda Hayden of Telford, PA. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Green in 1997 and a brother, Samuel Raymond Green, Jr.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11:30 AM; where Mr. Robert Heiser will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Library Fund of the Carlisle Church of Christ, 971 Walnut bottom Rd., Carlisle, PA 17005.
