James Hull

October 19, 1929 — July 25, 2017

James L. Hull, Sr., 87, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017 at his home. Born October 19, 1929 in St. Thomas, he was a son of the late Wilbur and Ruth Mills Hull. Mr. Hull served with the US Army during the Korean War and was employed as a truck driver most of his life; early on at Walter Brothers in Chambersburg and at Daily Express in Carlisle. He later retired from Valley Quarries in Chambersburg after 37 years of service. He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma M. Pensinger Hull, whom he married May 2, 1953; three sons, James L. Hull, Jr. (Stacy Jo) of Chambersburg, Timothy L. Hull (Cindy) of Shippensburg, Charles “Sam” Hull (Ann Barnett) of Greencastle; two daughters, Judi K. Ganoe of Chambersburg and Kimberly S. McKenrick (Ted Cuff) of Fayetteville; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Robert Hull (Miriam) of Chambersburg, Thomas Hull (Helen) of St. Thomas, and Larry Hull of Camp Hill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday, July 28, 2017 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. A graveside service will then be held at 11:30 AM at St. Thomas Cemetery with Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. Military honors will be presented by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard.
