James R. Landaker of Chambersburg, PA was given over to the Lord on September 18, 2021. He will be cherished and remembered by his loving wife of 47 years, Pamela (Aronhalt) Landaker; his daughter and son-in-law Amy and Dominic Barbagallo III; grandson, Dominic Barbagallo IV; his son and daughter-in-law Todd and Nicole Landaker; granddaughters Harper and Stella Landaker; his sister-in law and brother-in law Scott and Nancy Secrist; and nephew Michael Secrist. He is preceded in passing by his parents James H. and Mary A. (Carr) Landaker; his wife’s parents Paul and Mabel Aronhalt; his sister Diane Kaylor; and his dear, sweet, and cherished son Ryan Patrick Landaker.
Jim was born and raised in Hagerstown, Maryland, and a graduate of North Hagerstown High School. He and his wife married in 1974, and made a home in Chambersburg to begin and raise their family. He worked as a mechanical designer and project manager throughout his career and in various different locations throughout Pennsylvania.
Jim loved people and especially children, and most enjoyed talking and spending time with his family and friends. He loved photography, nature, the outdoors, fishing, sports and watching his grandson play football and lacrosse, and cheering on the Chambersburg Trojans. He loved spending time with his beautiful granddaughters, playing make believe and being silly, and filling their lives with laughter and hugs.
In his retirement, Jim developed a passion for wood carving and enjoyed making many items for this family which will be forever treasured.
Jim loved greatly and effortlessly and was always willing to help and support anyone in need with a helping hand and a listening ear. There was never a person in his life that was a stranger and he spent time talking to everyone he ever met. He has taught his family by example the truest meaning of love and respect, hard work, and giving to others. We love you Pappy and will carry you with us always in our hearts, prayers, and throughout our life’s adventures.
Jim would not like for us to mourn his loss but to celebrate his life with stories of all the happy times and loving memories of him that have filled our lives, and to continue to give unto others. It is because of his kindness and generosity that we ask that in lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital so he can continue to support and help others.
