James Malloy

James H. (Jim) Malloy, Jr., 82, of Pitman, New Jersey, died on October 23rd, 2012, at his daughter’s residence in Chambersburg, PA.

Jim’s love and guidance have been central and enduring in his family’s lives. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son, he will be deeply missed by all who relied on him for his wisdom, strength, and impeccable character. Those who knew him will also miss his quiet charm, quick wit, and gentle elegance.

Born on April 30, 1930, to Frances and James H. Malloy, Jim grew up in Northeast Philadelphia graduating from Northeast H.S. in 1946. He wed his childhood sweetheart Mary Jane (Leve) Malloy who died in 2004. They were married for 54 years.

Jim earned his degree in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and retired as Superintendent of Transmission, Distribution and Meter Divisions from Philadelphia Electric Company in 1989.

Jim was a scholar of military history, aviation, and railroading, an avid sailor, and life-long aviation enthusiast. Jim enjoyed family road trips through the US and Canada and traveling with Jane to Europe, United Kingdom, Scandinavia and the Caribbean. Family cruises were a special gift he gave his children and grandchildren in later years.

He is survived by three children, James H. Malloy (husband of Marcia), Kevin J. Malloy (husband of Mary Ellen) and Beth A. Malloy Stephey (wife of David) and five grandchildren – Bradley R. Malloy, James H. Malloy, Sara E. Malloy, Hannah M. Stephey, and Douglas J. Malloy. He is also survived by his only brother, John (Jack) Malloy (husband of Lu).

In addition to his wife, Jim is predeceased by his parents, and his sister Alice Woodhull.

A memorial service and celebration of Jim Malloy’s life will be held in New Jersey.
