James Mathis

James “Theron” Mathis, age 65, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 28, 2021 in South Carolina. Born April 11, 1955, in Kissimmee, FL, he was the son of the late James and Evelyna McCleary George. Mr. Mathis worked at the former Pet Ritz and Catch-Up Logistics as a lead operator. He enjoyed working on cars, drag racing, travel, fishing, gardening, and always lending a helping hand.

Surviving are five children, Sheena Mathis of Chambersburg, PA, Tynesa Mathis of Chambersburg, PA, and Aariel Mathis of Las Vegas, NV; Keisha Kendall of Chambersburg, PA and Tabitha Kendall of Chambersburg, PA; three step children, Tabitha Ewing of Las Vegas, NV, Tavis Mills of Chambersburg, PA, and Tiffany Mills of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Chon’Tashia Colter, Kyiron Milbin, Amar Beall, Simone Beall, and Eiriss Mathis; one great-grandson, Rasiyah Torres; and six siblings, James George of Chambersburg, PA, Kenny George of Chambersburg, PA, Ronitha George of Hagerstown, MD, Sandy McCullough of Andrews, SC, Beverly George of Rochester, NY, and Jenny Lee George of Husky, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, where Pastor Nathan G. Bell will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
