James Myers

James R. “Jimmy” Myers, 77, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at NMS Healthcare in Hagerstown, MD. Born July 12, 1939, in Hagerstown, he was a son of the late Carl L. and Hilda L. French Myers.

Jimmy was a 1957, graduate of Williamsport High School. He was employed at James River until his retirement in 1999, after 37 ½ years of service. He attended Fayetteville Church of God and enjoyed collecting antiques and metal detecting.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Saundra McNew Myers, whom he married in 1961; two daughters, Teresa Myers of Chambersburg, and Tonya Jaxel and husband Paul of Newville; two grandchildren, Jennifer Martin and husband James of St. Thomas and Paul Jaxel, Jr. of Newville; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Martin; and his brother, Gary Myers and wife Brenda of Hagerstown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Myers.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 28, 2016, in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Menno Sollenberger will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, Inc., 747 Northern Ave. Hagerstown, MD 21742.
