James H. “Jim” Renninger, III, 87, of Fayetteville, PA, died Sunday morning, December 4, 2011 in Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 7, 1924 in Brunswick, NJ, he was a son of the late Paul and Maude Jones Renninger. Jim was a 1942 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and received a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Gettysburg College in 1946. He served with the US Army during WWII. Jim and his wife Joyce owned and operated the former Village Grocery in Fayetteville for forty five years. His passion in life was buying, selling, and collecting antiques and he enjoyed operating Renninger’s Antiques in Fayetteville, formerly owned by his parents, until closing the store in 1972.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Carmack Renninger, whom he married October 8, 1955; two children, James H. Renninger, IV and companion Peg Miley of Fayetteville and Cathy J. Sprenger and husband Matthew of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Tara and Kyla Renninger, David, Tyler, and Lauren Sprenger; his great-grandson Trey; and his sister, Madeline (Mrs. Ward) Monn of Atlanta, GA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Paul B. Baker at 11:30 AM Thursday, December 8, 2011 at Norland Cemetery.
