James R. Stewart, age 84, of Belleville, PA and formerly of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at Valley View Haven Nursing Home on Sunday, August 31, 2014. Born May 13, 1930, he was the son of the late Ernest R. and Mary T. Shively Stewart.
A dedicated employee for 44 years of the former Atlantic States Gas Company, now Suburban Propane Energy Products, Jim retired in 1992. He enjoyed sports, especially Penn State Football, Antique Engines, and going antiquing.
Surviving are two children, Linda White of Newton Hamilton, PA and Scott Stewart Of Lewisburg, PA; four grandchildren, Ronald May of Willingboro, NJ, Jody Baker of Huntingdon, PA, Stacy Baker of Mount Union, PA, and Hannah Stewart of Lewisburg, PA; five great-grandchildren, Alicia Baker of Huntingdon, PA, Veronica, Sidney, Jasmine, and Ty Rinker all of Mount Union, PA; and one sister, Katherine Hubler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris M. Lockhart Stewart in January 2005; a daughter, Pamela Bock in 1993, a daughter, Norma Stewart in infancy, and a brother, Charles “Reg” Stewart.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA , where Rev. John Ile will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment in Parklawns Memorial Gardens will be private.
