James Thomas

James L. “Pete” Thomas, age 91, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday evening, January 10, 2015, at his home. Born May 3, 1923, he was a son of the late William and Maude Peck Thomas. His wife of 65 years, Anna Marie Thomas, preceded him in death on October 17, 2012.

A U.S. Army veteran, James served honorably with the 44th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II. James was a member of Mt. Union Methodist Church in Fayetteville, the Harrisburg Consistory, and the James Chambers Lodge 801 F&AM.

James is survived by his son, James W. Thomas (wife Brigett) of Fayetteville; and his grandson, Cameron W. Thomas of Fayetteville and seven siblings. Aside from his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by twelve siblings.

A funeral service to honor Pete’s life will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Mt. Union United Methodist Church, 8082 Lincoln Way East, Fayetteville, PA; where Pastor Trisha Brandt will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 - 9 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the above church on Thursday. Interment will follow the service at Mont Alto Cemetery, where Members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard will provide military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
