James C. “Jim” Trace, 79, formerly of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Saturday evening, April 16, 2016 in Providence Place of Chambersburg. Born on October 4, 1936 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Kenneth O. and Mary F. Carper Trace. Jim married C. Jean Tosten Baker on March 7, 1964, and they would spend 52 years together until Jim’s passing on Saturday. Jean followed 3 ½ days later. They are survived one son Jeffrey L. Trace (Lynne) of New Bloomfield, PA; two granddaughters, Heather D. Donovan (Shaun) and Lindsey H. Trace (Lisa); and one great grandson, Keegan M. Donovan. Jim also leaves behind three brothers, Kenneth W. Trace (Rene), Richard L. Trace (Theresa), and Larry E. Trace (Linda), all of Chambersburg; He was preceded in death by another brother, Samuel. Jim was retired from the Public Opinion newspaper in Chambersburg. He was a member and past president of the Goodwill Steam Fire Engine & Hose Company No. 3, member of AARP 2840, the Marine Corps League and the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, all in Chambersburg. He and Jean were also members of Calvary United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. A memorial service to honor the lives of Jim and Jean will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, April 28th in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road Chambersburg, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment in Lincoln Cemetery will be private.
