Jane Armstrong, 99, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in her home. Born October 2, 1923 in Fayetteville, PA she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Nettie (Decker) Walters.
She was a graduate of Chambersburg High School. Jane was employed as a seamstress at Stanley Company for 10 years and then went to work for herself. She enjoyed knitting and doing word searches. Jane was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church and national and local AARP 2287 and NARFE 1063. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at the Chambersburg Hospital for many years.
Jane is survived by two children, Jill Fehrman and her husband John of Lancaster, PA and Jack Armstrong and his wife Trudy of York, PA; four grandchildren, Jennifer Byrne, Michelle Frazier, Lindsay Armstrong, and Spencer Armstrong; two step-grandchildren, Ned Salloom and Ashlee Morrison; five great-grandchildren, Caiden, Grayson, Hunter, Colin and William; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, George E. Armstrong; four sisters, Zelda Wingert, Viola Wingert, Mary Haulman, and Blanche Walters; and an infant brother.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, January 6, 2023 in Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 125 Park Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201 with Rev. Bruce Levy officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
