Jane E. Bond, age 85, of Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Hagerstown, MD, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Menno Haven. Born August 13, 1929, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Richardson Gossard.
Mrs. Bond worked as a secretary until her retirement in 2007. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church, Hagerstown, MD and the Independent Junior Fire Company of Hagerstown, MD; where she served as a past Secretary and most recently Chaplain. In addition, Mrs. Bond was a member of the Amvets, American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Moose Lodge, all in Hagerstown, MD. Mrs. Bond cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, where she was known to play soccer with them even in her 80’s. She enjoyed watching Dancing with the Stars, the Bachelor, and cowboy movies.
Surviving is her daughter, Marlene Ausherman (husband Tim) of Chambersburg, PA; three grandchildren, Tia Mulewich (husband Dan); Grant Ausherman (wife Meghan); and Trent Ausherman (wife Amber) all of Chambersburg, PA; three great-grandchildren, Noah and Connor Mulewich and Kaylin Ausherman; and one brother, Dennis Gossard of TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas H. Bond, Jr. in 1993, and three siblings.
Funeral services to honor Mrs. Bond’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 10 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Dr. Steve Robison will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Hagerstown, MD.
