Jane C. Evans, age 69, of Fayetteville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at the Hershey Medical Center. Born September 8, 1946, in Carlisle, PA, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Dora Rotz Evans.
A certified nurse’s aide, Jane dedicated 26 ½ years to the South Mountain Restoration Center, retiring in 2008. She was a member of New Guilford Brethren in Christ Church, New Franklin Ruritan Club, the Red Hats – Angels of Mercy, and AARP Franklin County Chapter 2287. Jane enjoyed puzzles, reading, babysitting her numerous great nieces and nephews, and playing shuffleboard at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
Surviving are five siblings, Lester L. Evans “Leroy “of Florida, Linda D. Hoke (husband Terry) of Waynesboro, PA, John S. Evans (wife Janice) of Fayetteville, PA, Susan M. Naugle (husband William) of Fayetteville, PA, and Richard W. Evans (wife Sue) of Idaho Springs, CO; a brother in law, James L. Beecher of Fayetteville, PA; two special nieces, Barbara A. Vanpelt (husband Carl Lehman) of Fayetteville, PA and Beth A. Verno (husband Tony) of St. Thomas, PA; a special nephew, Steven Vanpelt (wife Brenda) of Chambersburg, PA, all three of whom are the children of her deceased twin sister, Joan Ulrich. In addition, she is survived by nine additional nephews, seven nieces, and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by four siblings, Robert E. and Larry R. Evans and Joan E. Ulrich and Shirley M. Beecher.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 16, 2015, at 10:30 AM at New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church, 1575 Mont Alto Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor Lawton Jacobs will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 16, 2015, from 6 – 8 PM at the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA and one hour prior to the service at the church and address above.
