Jane Elizabeth Hoover MacWilliams, age 89, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Friday, August 23, 2013, in the Chambersburg, Hospital. Born October 30, 1923 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S. and Lillian Helfrick Hoover.
A 1941 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, Mrs. MacWilliams went on to work at Letterkenny Army Depot and then became a homemaker to take care of her family, however she did also work part time at the Department of Labor, and Sears and Roebuck. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church and enjoyed playing cards and interior decorating, however she had a passion for shopping.
Surviving is her husband of 66 years, Bernard J. “Bernie” MacWilliams, whom she married April 5, 1947; four children, Barbara A. Jennings (husband Allan, Jr. “Skip”) of Chambersburg, PA, Kirk MacWilliams (wife Debra) of Chambersburg, PA, James MacWilliams (wife Sonja) of London, England, and Brian MacWilliams (wife Karen) of Chambersburg, PA; ten grandchildren, Scott Jennings (wife Lauren) of Chambersburg, PA, Lori Loomis (husband Greg) of Richmond, VA, Susan Turner (husband Dave) of Holland, MI, Emily Lillystone (husband Ian) of Alpharetta, GA, Thomas Joseph “T.J.” MacWilliams of Austin, TX, Ian MacWilliams (wife Katie) of Philadelphia, PA, Megan MacWilliams of Tampa, FL, Alex MacWilliams of Baltimore, MD, Luke MacWilliams of Orlando, FL, and Paige MacWilliams of Chambersburg PA; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Bottini (husband Tony) of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Friese.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at 11 AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA; where Rev. Fr. James R. O’Brien will celebrate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. Interment will follow the Mass in Corpus Christi Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the St. Vincent De Paul Society of Chambersburg, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
