Jane Evans McKenzie, 86, a resident at Menno Haven, passed away from complications of Lewy Body Dementia on Friday afternoon, February 26, 2016 at the nursing home. Born November 25, 1929 in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Dick and Florence (McNew) Evans. Mrs. McKenzie was a 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School and the former Chambersburg Business School. Early in her life she was employed at Personal Finance and then later worked part-time as an assistant in the office of Dr. James Dickson. She was a life-long member of Second Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. An avid Bingo player, she also enjoyed accompanying her husband to carving shows.
Mrs. McKenzie is survived by her husband, Ray S. McKenzie, whom she married August 19, 1950; three children, Michael “Mike” McKenzie and wife Gloria of St. Thomas, Patrick McKenzie and wife Cindy of Milford, DE, and Julie Best and husband Perry of Newark, DE; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Henry Johnson and Chaplain Adam Leeper will officiate. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
