Jane A. Schramm

May 10, 1924 — May 23, 2024

Chambersburg

Jane Schramm joyfully celebrated her 100th birthday on May 10, 2024 surrounded by her children, a granddaughter and close friends. Thirteen days later she passed away with three of her children and the wonderful staff at ChambersPoint by her side.

Jane is a Michigander by birth and Jackson, MI is where she grew up and met her husband, Edward.  They married in 1950 and had the first of their five children in 1951.  In 1966, the Schramm family relocated to Chambersburg and built a home in Spring Valley Estates where they resided until the kids were grown and out of the house.  They enjoyed their golden years in Scott-Greene Estates.  Jane and Ed celebrated 71 years of marriage before his passing in May, 2021.

Jane's career was raising her children and caring for her home, husband and aging mother.  She was a thoughtful neighbor and always happy to support friends or anyone in need.  Her volunteer activities included Brownies, fundraising for the Cancer Society, working with children in the Chambersburg School system, and Meals on Wheels.

Jane loved to socialize, had a great sense of humor, and was happiest playing games with her children and grandkids, playing bridge with the same group of friends for several decades, chatting with anyone and everyone, and, most importantly, going to the shore with her Spring Valley gal pals.

Jane is survived by her children, Sallie Schramm (IL), Peter Schramm (AZ), Sue Hare (AZ), Martie Schramm (WA), Molly (Stephen) Gibb (Scotland), four grandchildren and one great-grand daughter.

The Schramm family would like to express their appreciation to the Bell family, the Hughes girls (Sharon, Joanie, and Linda), and Lois Scott for their support over the years.  And, deep gratitude to the staff at ChambersPoint Skilled Nursing Center who so lovingly cared for Jane during the past four years.

There will be no service at this time.  If you feel so moved, please consider a donation to the Benevolent Fund at mennohaven.org/give.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA.
