Janet Eckstine

November 22, 1955 — January 9, 2018

Janet Eckstine, 62, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at her home. Born November 22, 1955, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Sarah Jane Flasher College.

Janet was a 1975 graduate of CASHS. Early in her life she was employed at Frey’s Farm Dairy and Sunny Way Foods. She was most recently a Counter Supervisor at the Butcher Shoppe where she was employed for over 20 years. Janet was a member of Mountain Top Ministries Church in Orrtanna. She enjoyed singing, gardening, flowers, baking, cooking, decorating, crocheting, shopping, and attending tractor pulls. Janet volunteered as a Missionetts teacher and served on a praise and worship team. Her passion was her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Gerald Eckstine, whom she married on June 9, 1979; three children, Jill Heinbaugh of Greencastle, Jeannie M. Eckstine of Chambersburg, and James E. Eckstine (Jessica Lucas) of Shippensburg; two grandchildren, Madyson E. Eckstine and Mikel E. Eckstine; three siblings, Edward College and wife Deb of Chambersburg, her twin brother, Robert “Bob” College and wife Debbie of Chambersburg, and Carol J. Huntoon and husband David of Shippensburg; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 13, 2018, in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Pastor Ken Reid will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Cedar Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Top Ministries, 200 Church Road, Orrtanna, PA 17353.
