Janet Gamber

February 18, 1924 — December 17, 2016

Janet P. Gamber, age 92, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at the Shook Home. Born February 18, 1924, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Irvin C. and Gladys Martin Patterson.
Mrs. Gamber was a 1942 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She dedicated numerous years, working at J. C. Penney Company, retiring as an accounting supervisor. Mrs. Gamber was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Golden Age Club. Mrs. Gamber enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family, she especially enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are three children, Dennis Gonder (wife Linda), Debra Benshoff (husband Roger), and C. Douglas Gamber (wife Judy); six grandchildren, Erik Gonder, Tyler Benshoff, Leslie Nagao, Bethani Benshoff, Adam Gamber, and Melissa Collum; five great-grandchildren, Sarah and Andrew Gonder, Benjamin Nagao, and Kayla and Cody Collum; a brother, Richard Patterson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, W. Cloyd Gamber, Jr. in 1993, and a sister, D. Jean Allen.
Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at 1 PM, where Rev. Donald Nolder will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 225 S. Second St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
