Janet Holtry

Janet L. Holtry, 89, of Chambersburg, departed this life peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2022, at Brookview Health Care Center. She was born in Fannettsburg, PA on March 1, 1933, to the late Charles W. and Vernol H. Markey Traxler.

Janet was a skilled seamstress and spent most of her working life in various companies in the
Chambersburg and Shippensburg area. She loved to shop and for many years, got up at the crack of dawn to go shopping on Black Friday. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with husband, Galen and their Pekingese dog, Spike. Janet also enjoyed doing puzzles, making crafts, and watching animal shows on television. She attended the Scotland United Methodist Church.

Janet is survived by 2 daughters, Deborah Millhouse (Bernard) of Chambersburg and Lori Martin (Ted) of Shippensburg, a sister, Betty Catlin of Ocean Pines, MD., and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by husband, Galen and 7 siblings : James Traxler, Charles Traxler, Hazel Forcino , Minnie Taylor, Mary Ellen Traxler, Alice Johnson, and Martha Wingert.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 2 PM at Parklawns Memorial Gardens in the Cemetery office building, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where Pastor William Smith will officiate. Inurnment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens following the memorial service. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
