Janet Johnson

October 18, 1929 — November 26, 2011

Janet K. Johnson, 82, of 1474 Edenville Road, Chambersburg, PA, went home to be with the Lord Saturday morning, November 26, 2011 in her home. Born October 18, 1929 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Amos M. and Carrie B. Plum Keefer. A 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School, she worked from 1947 to 1960 at the former Chambersburg Trust Company. In April of 1960, she formed a partnership with her sister, Lula, and established Hamilton Heights Market on Edenville Road. She continued in that business until retiring in 2000 when she turned the business over to her son. Janet was a member of King Street United Brethren Church.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce R. Johnson, whom she married July 19, 1952, and recently celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Janet is also survived by three children, Debra J. Coccagna and husband Thomas, Kristi K. Bolden and husband Timothy, and Michael B. Johnson; six grandchildren, Bradly Coccagna and wife Kari, Heidi Minnier and husband Gary, Kayla Johnson, Cody Johnson, Torrey Bolden, and Tristan Bolden; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Cora Gayman, Viola Brechbill, and Lula Keefer; and two brothers, Melvin and Russell Keefer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Lester F. Stine and Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday and 10:30-11:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
