Janet C. Rahauser
Beloved wife of Dr. David M. Rahauser passed away June 9, 2011 at the Chambersburg Hospital following a brief illness. Born June 4, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. and Carrie Unger Cunningham of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She was a graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School, attended Chambersburg Business College and a 1946 graduate of Wilson College. She worked as a social worker and second grade teacher.
On July 19, 1947 she married David M. Rahauser of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania who survives her. Besides her husband, she is survived by 3 children, David W. Rahauser (Cassandra) of Chambersburg, Charles F. Rahauser (Elizabeth) of Chambersburg, and Thomas E. Rahauser (Susan) of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Harold Cunningham.
For the majority of her adult life she worked as a homemaker and was active in The St. Paul and First United Methodist Church of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, Chambersburg Garden Club and Ladies Auxiliary of the Chambersburg Hospital and was a lifetime member of the Chambersburg Afternoon Club. She was an accomplished pianist who enjoyed playing by ear and memory until her death. She enjoyed flowers and flower arranging. She also enjoyed golf with her husband and her children. She particularly enjoyed her summers in Caledonia and spending time at the family cabin in Caledonia State Park. She and her husband enjoyed traveling to various destinations and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday, June 13, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at The First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. Friends will be received immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
