Janice Baughman

Janice Joan Baughman, 70, of Fayetteville, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2011 at her home. Born on February 12, 1941 in Mercersburg, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and M. Mae Leevy Sord. She was the widow of Sargie Baughman Jr., who preceded her in death on January 22, 1990. The owner/operator of C. H. Newman Beer Distributor, Janice was dedicated to her work. She also enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and sewing.

Surviving are three children, Teresa DeShong (Mrs. John) of Fayetteville, Brian Baughman and fiancé Barb McVey of Mechanicsburg, and Wava Glenn (Mrs. D. Stanley) of Orangeville, PA; six grandchildren, Jacquelyn Reed, Jamie Crout, Brandon, Christopher and Rebecca Glenn, and Emily Baughman; six great grandchildren, Clayton Doll, Ian, Addison, Sydney, and Landon Crout, and Eden Glenn. Also surviving are five siblings, Arthur Sord, Verna Rife, Darlene Sord, Pat Baughman, and Shirley Helman.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Lester F. Stine officiating. Interment will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 1, 2011 from 7 to 9 PM and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorial donations may be made in Janice’s name to Lutheran Homecare and Hospice, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
