Jason Johnston

Jason W. “JJ” Johnston, 36, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at the Chambersburg Hospital from complications of asthma. JJ’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. Born February 19, 1980 in Chambersburg, he was the son of Cole C. and Malenda “Mindy” J. Rice Johnston of Shippensburg. JJ was a 1998 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School and the electronics program at the Franklin County Career and Technology Center. He was currently employed as the Operations Manager at RT Express in Shippensburg and was previously employed with Fed-Ex and for ten years as a mason tender with Keener, Inc. in Mechanicsburg. He was a member of Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion in Chambersburg and the Minnequa Club in Shippensburg. A loving and dedicated father, JJ’s children were the center of his world. He enjoyed any time spent with his children and especially liked riding bikes with them. He was an avid golfer and a fan of the Denver Broncos and the Michigan Wolverines.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Adamaura Johnston; his son, Jameson Johnston; maternal grandparents Bill and Linda Rice of Chambersburg and Tom and Mary Jane Lynch of Chambersburg; paternal grandmother Patricia Barkley of Chambersburg; aunt and uncle Jim and Rhonda Goetz of Fayetteville; his cousins Tommy Johnston and wife Sandy of Chambersburg and Beth Ann Johnston of Fayetteville; and his former spouse Sarah Kaye Johnston of Shippensburg. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas Johnston; and his uncles, Tom Johnston and Michael Tritle.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Private interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, PA.
