Jason W. Mose, 31, of 760 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA, died Friday afternoon, April 15, 2011 in the emergency room of Chambersburg Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Greene Township. Born August 28, 1979 in Carlisle, he was a son of Rodney C. and Cindee Mose of Chambersburg and Debra Mose of Greencastle. Jason was a 1998 graduate of James Buchanan High School where he lettered in football, baseball, and chorus. He was named to the Mid-Penn Baseball first team during his junior year. He went on to receive a degree in Computer-aided Design from ITT Technical Institute. Previously employed by PennTerra Engineering, he was currently pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. Jason was an active member of King Street United Brethren Church where he was a member of the Feed The Faith Sunday School Class, the Property Commission, and coached one of the youth basketball teams in the Chambersburg Church League. He also played on the church softball team. Jason had a passion for community outreach and along with his father conducted an open gym at the church on Monday and Tuesday evenings for community youth and adults. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed baseball, softball, football, basketball, paintball, and playing golf with his father and friends.
In addition to his parents, Jason is survived by his former wife, Billie Jo Ditch Mose and their sons, Jordan Connor Mose and Bryston William Mose; four brothers, Rodney C. Mose, Jr. and his children Ashlee and Rodney, all of Chambersburg, Paul R. Mose, his wife Kelli and their children Hannah, Brandon, and Paul, all of Smithsburg, MD, Ryan E. Mose and his daughter Adrianna of Hagerstown, MD, and Robert J. McCollim, his wife Carrie, and their son Lucian, all of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Joann M. Epperson and her children Hailey, Autumn, and Austin, all of Chambersburg. He is also survived by his grandfather, Rev. Richard E. Mose and wife Janet of Shippensburg; his grandmother, Thelma Howell of Chambersburg; his grandmother Mona Maier of Lower Burrell, PA; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ilene Summers Mose.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 22, 2011 at King Street United Brethren Church with Rev. Dr. John Beukema officiating. Interment will follow in Norland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-9:00 PM Thursday at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, and from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions in Jason’s memory may be made to the Jason Mose Memorial Fund, c/o King Street United Brethren Church, 162 East King Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Donations will be used by the local outreach commission at the church for the Chambersburg community.
