Jasper Stouffer

Jasper S. Stouffer Jr, 93, of Chambersburg, passed away at his home peacefully on Sunday morning, July 29, 2018. Born January 5, 1925, in Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late Jasper and Lottie Berklite Stouffer.

A WWII Veteran, Jasper served in the Army Air Force as a B29 Aircraft Mechanic on the Island of Tinian. He served as American Legion Commander for the State of Pennsylvania from 1995-96 and as Commander and Vice Commander of the Detrich-Brechbill Post 612 American Legion, Franklin-Fulton Bi-County and the 22nd District. He was also a life member of the Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, AMVETS Post 224, Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League, and the Chambersburg Club. Jasper and his brother, Raymond, owned and operated Stouffer’s True Value since 1976. He spent the last years of his life working at the store; he wasn’t napping.

Jasper was preceded in death by his wife and the love of his life of 50 years, Marcella Stouffer and 9 siblings. He is survived by two children, Diane Schaefer (wife of Kevin Schaefer) of Chambersburg and Michael Stouffer (husband of Gloria Stouffer) of Chambersburg; 5 granddaughters, Angelique Flory (wife of Ralph Flory), Alycia Hodil (wife of Bryan Hodil), Antonia Spedden (wife of Scott Spedden), Samantha Elms (wife of Brett Elms), Brianna Stouffer (fiancé of Ryan Yaukey); and 8 great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Brennan, Kyle, Olivia, Baylee, Maysan, Cooper, and Winnie.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 2, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. Paul B. Baker will officiate. Inurnment will follow the service in St. Thomas Cemetery where military honors will be provided by the VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels of Chambersburg, 43 West Washington Street, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
