Jay A. Ausherman, Sr., age 89, of Scotland, PA and formerly of Duffield, PA, passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Born March 18, 1925, in Duffield, PA, he was the son of the late Harry Augustus and Frances Elgin Duffield Ausherman. The last of his immediate family, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Locke Ausherman on December 28, 2013, a sister Elizabeth and brothers, George Quentin and Lloyd Duffield Ausherman.
Jay, along with his father and brother, Lloyd owned and operated the Ausherman and Duffield farms, orchards, and homesteads for most of his working career. Jay was a lifetime member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Fayetteville, PA; and the George Washington Lodge No. 143 F & A. M., Chambersburg, PA. Jay and Ruby Enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada and spending many summers at their home on the Potomac River near Williamsport, MD.
Surviving is his daughter, Connie A. Norberg (husband Robert W.) of Allison Park, PA; a son, Jay Allen Ausherman, Jr. of Chambersburg, PA; his grandchildren, Sheri Boyle (husband Sean) of Gibsonia, PA, William Jay Norberg (wife Bree D.) of East Norriston, PA, and Stacie A. Cosados (husband Jose) of Gardnerville, NV; six great-grandchildren, Wesley W. and Evan R. Boyle and Cadyn Jane Norberg and Korbin Casados, Skyllar Ausherman, and Jeremiah Casados; and sister-in-law, Betty B. Ausherman with many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2014 at 12 noon in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA; where Pastor Chuck DeShong will officiate. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Calvary United Methodist Church Building Fund, 150 Norlo Drive, Fayetteville, PA 17222.
