Jayne Nansen, age 88, a resident of Providence Place Retirement Community in Chambersburg, PA, died Tuesday evening, May 21, 2013 after battling cancer. Born on August 31, 1924 in Trenton, NJ, she was the only child born to the late Jay Roy and Erva Martin.
Jayne graduated from Hamilton High School in 1942 and continued her education at Mary Washington College and Rider College. During WWII, she helped with the war effort by working at the Switlik Parachute Company in Trenton, NJ.
She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where she volunteered in the church office. She also volunteered as a greeter for Newcomer’s Welcoming Service and Meals on Wheels. She was employed at Quincy United Methodist Home until she retired in 1985.
Jayne is survived by a son, Donald A. Nansen, Jr and his wife Sherry, of Chambersburg, a daughter, Beth A. Cerri and her husband Anthony, of Yorktown, VA, 2 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, a great grandson, and a step great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Nansen Sr. in 1993.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. John Rauch officiating.
