Jean E. Cook, 94, of Chambersburg, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015. Born on November 16, 1921 in Chambersburg, she was the only child of the late Charles H. Hambright and Mary Seibert Mickey Hambright. She was the widow of Robert W. Cook, whom she married on September 6, 1941. They resided in Menno Village for more than 18 years before moving to Village Square in 2008. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2009. Jean is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family who celebrate her life and regret her passing.
Jean was a 1939 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. She retired in 1973 after 25 years as a bookkeeper at the former Penn Hall School, which closed that same year. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church and taught Sunday School classes for over 40 years. For more than 30 years she and her husband managed the care, maintenance, and bookkeeping of the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016, in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with viewing one hour prior to the service. Rev. Garry Culler will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
