Jean M. Gipe, age 85, of Chambersburg, died on Thursday, September 04, 2014, in the Shook Home, Chambersburg. Born on February 3, 1929 in Lemasters, she was a daughter of the late Frank S. and Martha J. Shuman Harrison. She was the widow of Clarence E. “Cub” Gipe, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2011.
Jean was retired from Corning Class, where she had worked as an assembler. She was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey L. Gipe, and wife, Geraldine, of Fayetteville and Jerry E. Gipe, and wife, Linda, of Chambersburg; four grandchildren, Mandy Heckman and husband, Mickey, Shelby Stevens and husband, Stewart, Jenifer Swartzburg and husband, Greg, and Brian Gipe; and eight great-grandchildren, Cota and Tucker Heckman, Brooke and Hunter Stevens, Aden and Garrett Swartzburg, and Breanna and Cady Gipe. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Phyllis Faulkner, Julia Over, Katie Bowling, Mable Spidle, and Grace Coble.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 125 Park Avenue Chambersburg, PA, with Rev. Suzanne Elliott officiating. Interment will follow in Lincoln Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Park Avenue United Methodist Church, at the above address.
