Jean E. Kann, age 92, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at Shippensburg Healthcare Center on Sunday, April 1, 2018. Born in Chambersburg, PA on March 15, 1926, she was a daughter of the late John H. and Daisy Feagan Shank.
Mrs. Kann worked as a nurse’s assistant at Menno Haven and previously worked part time as a beautician. She was also employed at the former Stanley Company at one time. She was a life member of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 in Chambersburg as well as the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46 in Chambersburg. Mrs. Kann was also a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chambersburg. She enjoyed golf, roller skating, dancing with her husband, and singing in the church choir.
Surviving are two children, Deborah K. Whaley (husband Vernon T.) of Chambersburg, PA and Douglas E. Kann (wife Holly) of Chambersburg; three grandchildren Brandon, Elizabeth, and David Kann; and two siblings, Norma Cleaver of Chambersburg, PA and Guy Shank of Chambersburg, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kann, Jr. in 2003 and a sister, Lois Faye Walker.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018, at 12 noon in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, 3218 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA, where the Rev. Sharon F. Kelly, PhD, will officiate. The family requests that guests wear casual attire. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation; JDRF, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
