Jean O. Mowen, age 70, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly in the Chambersburg Hospital on Sunday, September 14, 2014. Born in Chambersburg on May 13, 1944, she was the daughter of the late William Jacob and Sylvia Burkhart Roll.
Dedicated to her Lord and family, Jean spent much of her time being active in her church and caring for her family. She also enjoyed sewing, making crafts, shopping for others, baking, gardening, and bird watching. She worked as a cosmetologist and then in housekeeping at the Penn Hall Campus until her retirement in 2006.
Surviving is her beloved husband, Robert E. Mowen, Jr. whom she married on April 13, 1965; two children, Lain E. Mowen (wife Tammy) of Mercersburg, PA and Jennifer D. Stinson (husband MSgt. Duane Stinson) of Kindsbach, Germany; three grandchildren, Ethan Mowen, Paige Stinson, and Chapin Mowen; and two sisters, Frances Mills of Chambersburg, PA and Lillian Renk of Bedford, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11 AM at Ebenezer United Brethren Church, 3661 Williamson Rd., Greencastle, PA 17225; where Pastor David Grove will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
