Jeffrey R. Mayer, 56, of Chambersburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021. Born August 24, 1965 in Chambersburg, he was the son of George Mayer (husband of Dorris) and Sharon Mayer.
Jeff worked as an electric meter technician for the Chambersburg Borough for the past 20 years. Previously, he was a butcher at many different locations including Crider Meats in Shippensburg. He was a member of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW and the Chambersburg Club. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a love for animals. Jeff was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
In addition to his parents, Jeff is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jody Hershey Mayer, whom he married on June 19, 1998; sons Chad Ewan (wife Michelle) and Tyler Ewan; grandsons Blake, Camden and Rylan Ewan; brother Mark Mayer (wife Susan); sister in law Lisa Strickland (Adam); step-siblings Desiree and Dustin; and nieces and nephews, Molly, Daniel, Brandon, Julia and Chase.
Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gift of Life Donor Program, 867 Fishburn Rd., Hershey, PA 17033.
