Jerry L. Barnhart, 70, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Sunday, October 30, 2022 in his home. Born July 15, 1952 in Chambersburg, PA he was the son of the late Ray E. and Betty (Kauffman) Barnhart.
He attended Chambersburg Area Schools. Jerry then enlisted in the United States Army Reserves. He was the owner and operator of the Carriage House, Mercersburg, PA and Mountain House Bar and Grill, Fort Loudon, PA. After selling those businesses, Jerry was employed by World Kitchen, Greencastle; PennDot as a custodian at the rest areas along 81; Gabler Trucking, Chambersburg; Goodwill, Chambersburg; and most recently as a custodian at the Chambersburg Mall. Jerry was a life member of the AMVETS, Chambersburg; American Legions Post 517, Mercersburg; Marine Corps, Chambersburg and a former member of the Moose Lodge, Chambersburg.
Jerry is survived by his significant other of over 20 years, Deborah Montgomery; a daughter, Cindy Hoover of Chambersburg; four step-children, Ginger Flemming (Terry) of McConnellsburg, PA, Christopher Carbaugh of North Carolina, Cory Carbaugh (Juliann) of Pittsburgh, PA and Taylor Montgomery of Chambersburg; three siblings, Shirley Hill of Fort Loudon, PA, Kenneth Barnhart (Linda) of Marion, PA and Beverly Rock (Barry) of Chambersburg; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Miller who passed away December 29, 2021.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg.
