Jerry Edward Howell

Jerry E. Howell, 82, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at his home. Born November 15, 1941 in Greensburg, PA, he was a son of the late Carl and Ruth Weimer Howell.

Early in his life, Jerry was employed at Mack Truck in Hagerstown, MD. He then went to work as a bar-tender and manager at the Chambersburg Club and the Elks Lodge #600. Later, he went to work at his family’s business and eventually became the owner/operator of the Corner Bar and Grill and later the Grant Street Station, both in Chambersburg. Lastly, he was employed at Fitzgerald and Jennings Chevrolet. Jerry was an excellent drummer and played in the Fabulous Four and other local band over the years. He also enjoyed shooting, fast cars, animals, cooking, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers and was an avid golfer.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Johanna E. Mastalski Howell, whom he married in November 1975; two children, Jerry P. Howell (Christine) of Shippensburg, and Tammy Smith (Terry) of Chambersburg; three grandchildren, Chase Howell (Jill) of Chambersburg, Cody Howell of Shippensburg, and Robbin Locke (Mark Beard) of Chambersburg; seven great-grandchildren, Sawyer Locke, Aubrey Locke, Amarah Whitehead, and Alayzia, Gage, Weston, and Ryker Howell; and two brothers, Glenn Howell of Chambersburg, and James Howell (Michelle) of Sacramento, CA. Aside from his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Nicole Whitehead in 2019; and two siblings, Ronnie Howell and Judy Howell.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 15, 2024 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202. Rev. John Bayer will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
