Jeryl L. “Jerry” Strite, age 54, of Chambersburg, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011 in Huntingdon County as a result of a single-vehicle automobile accident. Born on August 25, 1957 in Chambersburg, he was a son of Pauline Hampton Strite of Ft. Littleton and the late Orville Strite.
A master craftsman and designer, Jerry worked on countless building and remodeling projects throughout the local area. His eye for detail and handy precision defined his work. Among his many interests, Jerry enjoyed cooking and playing the guitar. His favorite times, however, were those spent with his family, especially his children and grandson, Lucas.
Aside from his mother, Jerry is survived by three children, Nicole, Emily, and Joel Strite; one grandson, Lucas, all of Chambersburg; six sisters, Karen Byers of St. Thomas, Wilma Brown of Burnt Cabins, Denise Angle of Chambersburg, Ada Price of Shade Gap, Violet Summers of Mercersburg, and Crystal Strite of Ft. Littleton; two brothers, Orville Strite Jr. of Greencastle and Paul Strite of Hanover; his former wife, Suze Leader of Chambersburg; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Maggie Brown.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, August 26, 2011 in the chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with Rev. Marlin “Butch” Neil officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:30 AM - 1 PM on Friday.
