Jo elaine Reffner, 79, of Chambersbug, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Hershey Medical Center. Born February 4, 1939 in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Miriam Kanarr and David Funk. She was a 1957 graduate of the Chambersburg Area Senior High School. A homemaker most of her life, she had been employed with the TB Society in Chambersburg early in her life. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chambersburg; a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW; and early in her life a member of Camp Penn. She loved dogs and cats and enjoyed bowling, reading, and gardening.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert M. Reffner, Sr., whom she married November 2, 1968 in Chambersburg; her son, Robert M. Reffner, Jr. and companion Carol Jordan of Waynesboro, VA; and her brother, David K. Funk and wife Glenda of Fayetteville, PA. She is also survived by her aunt and uncle who she was especially close to, Larue, whom she lovingly referred to as “Sis” and Clarence Emerson of New Castle, IN; and close friends Bob and Penny Thomas of Shippensburg.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 22, 2018 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. The family will receive friends from Noon until services begin at 1:00 PM. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be private.
