Joe Stout

Joe D. Stout, age 84, of Chambersburg, PA died Friday, September 13, 2013 at his home. Born March 18, 1929 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Roy M. and Mildred L. Stout.

Joe was a 1947 graduate of the former Chambersburg High School. A U.S. Army veteran, Joe served from 1947 until 1952 during which time he attained the rank of S/Sgt. and served in Korea. He began his banking career as a cashier in 1955 with the former Valley National Bank in Chambersburg. He served in that capacity until 1964 when he moved to Satellite Beach, FL to work as Vice President and Cashier with First National Bank. He then went on to work in the same position at National Bank & Trust in Melbourne, FL until he retired, having served in various senior bank management positions with Southeast Banks of Florida. Joe was active in several community and banking organizations in Brevard County, FL until he relocated to Chambersburg in 2000. He was a member of Park Avenue United Methodist Church in Chambersburg, PA, the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, AMVETS Post 224, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, and BPO Elks Lodge 600, all in Chambersburg.

Joe is survived by his wife Margaret Ann Moore Stout, whom he married on May 8, 1965. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM in Norland Cemetery. Rev. Ray Kauffman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
