John E. Albert, Sr., 69, of Chambersburg, PA passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Hershey Medical Center. Born January 18, 1944, he was the son of the late Virginia and George Albert.
A 1962 graduate of McConnellsburg High School, John worked as a welder at Grove Manufacturing until his retirement in 2006 after 35 years of service. John enjoyed golfing and was a fan of Penn State football and the Dallas Cowboys.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Welker Albert of Chambersburg; seven children, Penny Harmon and husband David of St. Thomas, Terry L. Brindle of Mercersburg, Shawnee Smetak and husband Chris of Harrisburg, Shari L. Hollenshead and husband Stuart of Mercersburg, Sheila Albert of TX, C. Michele Mendez and husband Tony of TX, and John E. Albert, Jr., of St. Thomas; thirteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and one sister, Mona Sowers of McConnellsburg. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters, Wanda and Connie.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 24, 2013 in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Dick Williams will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
