John Bachtell

John L. Bachtell, age 66, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away at the York Hospital on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Born March 22, 1949, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Jack C. and Marie Frances Czarnecki Bachtell.
A graduate of North Hagerstown High School, John went on to serve his country honorably from 1968 – 1973, in the U.S. Navy, he continued his service to the country at Letterkenny Army Depot as an Electronics Technician until his retirement after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 211, Funkstown, MD and ABATE of PA. John loved spending time with his friends, listening to blues music, and playing Santa Claus.
Surviving is his daughter, Monica Breneman (husband Ralph) of Chambersburg, one granddaughter, Mercedes Bailey of Chambersburg, and a brother, Richard Bachtell. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene K. Deardorff Bachtell in 2011.
Services and interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
