John Bennett

October 25, 1933 — June 29, 2012

John J. “Jack” Bennett, age 78 of Chambersburg, PA; passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Friday, June 29, 2012. Born in New York City on October 25, 1933, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy Corrigan Bennett.

A veteran of the Korean Conflict, Jack served his country honorably in the US Air Force from 1952 until 1956; where he went on to pursue his career with Con Edison for 32 years, retiring in 1989. He was the best NY Yankee fan in the Bronx.

Surviving is his loving wife of 56 years. Eileen A. Flynn Bennett, whom he married December 31, 1955; five devoted children, John, Thomas, Christopher (wife Kim), and Joseph P. Bennett (wife Patricia) and Ellen Andriello (husband Paul); six cherished grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Bennett (wife Millie); and a nephew Robert.

A Memorial Mass will be offered on Monday, July 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, PA; where Fr. James O’Brien will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 1, 2012 from 7:00 until 9:00 PM in the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA. In addition
a second Memorial Mass will be offered at St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, 3021 Kingsbridge Avenue, Bronx, NY 10463 on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:30am. Interment will follow in Long Island National Cemetery with Air Force Military Honors located at 2040 Wellwood Avenue, Farmingdale, NY 11735 on July 6, 2012 at 12:30pm.
