John Campbell

John R. Campbell, 88, of Chambersburg, PA passed away Friday, March 1, 2024 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born June 16, 1935 in Dry Run, PA he was the son of the late Hance D. and Mary J. (Felmlee) Campbell.

He was a graduate of Fannett Metal High School. John then went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Penn State University. He was the owner and operator of Cesco in Mercersburg, PA and later worked alongside his sons at TBJ Inc., Chambersburg, PA. He was a Charter Member of Mercersburg Rotary Club and a member of Penn State Alumni Association. John enjoyed watching Penn State Football, golfing, fishing, boating, spending time in the mountains, and more than anything spending time with his family.

He is survived by two sons, Bryan Campbell and his wife Cheryl of Greencastle, PA and Todd Campbell and his wife Cindy of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Joan Harvey; and brother-in-law, Arthur Sollenberger.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Marion “Mitzi” (Garnes) Campbell; his son, Jeffrey Campbell; and siblings, Anna J. Czapp and J. James Campbell.

Services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 in the Chapel of the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA 17202 with Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends on hour prior to the service Wednesday afternoon in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Road, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
