John Cornell

John D. Cornell, 58, of Mont Alto, PA, died Saturday evening, December 14, 2013 at Quincy Village. Born October 29, 1955 in Everett, PA, he was a son of Frank L. Cornell of Covington, TX, and the late Betty Fletcher Cornell. John was a 1974 graduate of the Everett Area High School. He was currently employed at T.B. Woods Sons, Inc., Chambersburg, PA where he had worked for the past twenty years. He had previously been employed at the former Grove Manufacturing in Shady Grove, PA and at the Sunoco Service Center in Scotland, PA. John had also worked part-time at Lowes and Wal-Mart in Chambersburg. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and enjoyed hunting, working on cars, and spending time with his grandson, Jakobi.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Bowman Cornell, whom he married February 17, 1979; his daughter, Michelle Cornell of Mont Alto; his grandson, Jakobi Linton; his sister, Judy Alexander and husband Marcelus of Clearville, PA; and two brothers, James Cornell and wife Bonnie of Bedford, PA and Joe Cornell of Arkansas. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Janice Cornell.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday, December 20, 2013 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Roger Cales officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday and from 10:30-11:30 AM Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.
