John Crider

July 1, 1932 — April 26, 2022

John E. Crider, 89, of Chambersburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at his home. Born July 1, 1932 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Levi L. and Blanch Small Crider. His beloved wife, Joanna G. Piper Crider, preceded him in death on May 9, 1998.

John served honorably in the US Air Force. He was employed as a printing press operator at James River for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of King Street Church in Chambersburg and enjoyed playing and watching golf, hunting and riding four wheelers.

He is survived by three children, Greg Crider, Lori Garns and Stacie Jones (husband Daniel), all of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Daniel Crider, Jonathan Crider, Christine Garns, Megan Garns, Jordan Guyer and Katlyn Guyer; one great granddaughter, Aubree Guyer; one sister, Shirley Jacobs of Chambersburg; and his close friend, Audrey Harmon. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by two siblings, Helen and Floyd Crider.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 2, 2022 at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA. A memorial service to honor John’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on his 90th birthday, July 1, 2022 at King Street Church, 162 E. King Street, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Rev. Ronald Cook will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA.
