John L. Eyler, Jr.

John L. Eyler, Jr., 70, of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born October 13, 1953 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late John L. Eyler, Sr. and Anna Louise Stover Eyler.

John was a 1971 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School. After attending Penn State University, John was employed as a Deputy Warden at the Franklin County Jail for 33 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Prison Warden’s Association and New Guilford Brethren In Christ Church in Chambersburg. John enjoyed working with computers and watching wildlife.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lou Ann Brown Eyler, whom he married on April 30, 1977; two children, Amanda Vanaman (Michael) of Fayetteville, and Scott Eyler of York; and four grandchildren, Taylor, Morgan, Casie and Lincoln Vanaman, all of Fayetteville. Aside from his parents, John was preceded in death by two siblings, Donald Wolfe and Patsy Kint.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 30, 2024 in New Guilford Cemetery, Chambersburg, PA. Rev. Lawton Jacobs will officiate. Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, PA. Condolences and memories may be shared at geiselfuneralhome.com.
