John Iser

June 18, 1953 — December 19, 2020

On Saturday, December 19, 2020, John W. Iser, Sr, a loving husband, father of two, and step-father of three, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 67 at home.
John was born on June 18, 1953 in Chambersburg, PA to Robert “Bud” and Etta Jane “Etta” (Banks) Iser. On May 12, 1988, he married his best friend, Marianne Carr. Together they raised two daughters, Debbie J. Shatzley and Angela L. Wilson, and three sons, John William Iser, Jr; David E. Conner, Jr; and Raymond M. Conner.
John was also known to many friends and family as “Big John.” He was a hard-working man who was known to be full of life and always “living on the edge” as he described it. Prior to retiring, John was the owner of Vision Warehousing, as well as owner of Creative Home Improvements. He was also the Plant Manager of Fresh Express Inc and Taylor Farms in Greencastle, Pa.
John was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps and the Moose in Chambersburg, as well as the American Legion in Woodsboro, MD.
John was preceded in death by his father, Robert, mother, Etta Jane, and sister, Mary. He is survived by his loving wife, Marianne, his two children, Debbie J. Shatzley (wife of Shane) and John W. Iser, Jr (wife-to-be Jennifer Barefoot), and three step-children, Angela L. Wilson (wife of Benjamin), David E. Conner, Jr (wife Tammy), Raymond M. Conner (wife Veronika), and ten grandchildren, Hunter, Collin, Garrett, Dylan, Evan, Liam, Elizabeth, Braedan, Natalie, and Lochlan. He is also survived by four siblings, Danny Iser (wife Shirley) of Chambersburg, Janie Pennoyer (husband of Bill) of Rhode Island, James Iser (wife Roxanne) of Chambersburg, and Sue Gipe, along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Due to the unprecedented times and restrictions of COVID-19, the family will hold a memorial service at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Chambersburg, PA. Interment will be in Park Lawns Memorial Gardens.
