John R. Jamison, 68, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, May 10, 2014 at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born July 6, 1945 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late John and Betty Spoonhour Jamison. John served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War and retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in 1999. Following his retirement he worked for several contractors at Letterkenny and was last employed with Bowhead. He was a member of the Fayetteville Church of God and also held membership in the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW, Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, and Hume-McNeil-Byers AMVETS Post 224, all in Chambersburg. An avid hunter, he was a member of both the Shippensburg and Waynesboro Fish and Game Clubs.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Claire Miller Jamison, whom he married January 28, 1967; his daughter, Stephanie L. Washabaugh of Fayetteville; two grandchildren, Brittany and Matthew Washabaugh; his brother, Wayne E. Jamison and wife Pam of Fayetteville; one niece; and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Pastor Staci Geesaman officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Military honors will be presented by members of the Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Honor Guard immediately following the memorial service.
