John Ott

John P. Ott, age 92, of Chambersburg, PA; passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 in Manor Care Nursing Home. Born March 1, 1919 in Shippensburg, PA, he was the son of the late Stiles and Margaret Durf Ott.

A US Army veteran, Mr. Ott served honorably during WWII; he then went on to work at T.B. Woods for 40 years as a molder, retiring in 1982. His hobbies included NASCAR racing, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, and patronizing the local veteran’s clubs. He was a member of the American Legion Post 46, the VFW Post 1599, the Marine Corps League, and the Moose Lodge, all in Chambersburg. .

Surviving are his children, Pamela Strock of Marion, Richard Ott (wife Martha) of Chambersburg, Larry Ott of Chambersburg, and Dennis Ott (wife Connie) of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and four siblings, Ralph Ott of Shippensburg, Mary Alleman of Orrstown, Portia Reed of Pleasant Hall, and Beverly Gilbert of Newville, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Kemp Ott, five brothers, Stiles, Norman, Arthur, Charles, and Carl; and one sister, Anabelle Spero.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 10 AM with Pastor Lonnie Shover officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by members of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 Honor Guard.
